Silent Saint Award
Mildred Van Liew
As my life is fading away, I am being reminded of the truth that "only one life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last". The place to begin is in your own home. I have found that you get the best results by leading your children instead of only teaching them. That means a dedicated life to God YOURSELF in your walk, talk, habits, and decisions and in fact, your whole life being motivated and living by the Word of God. You are in the driver's seat. Don't cop out. Be controlled by the Holy Spirit with love, cheerfulness, a song in your heart and prayer. Always ask God to give you these attitudes and perspectives which God has worked into my life over many years.
1. Accept the challenges without fear and without assuming that you cannot do it. Often what looks impossible needs only plain, old determination.
2. Receive from God an optimistic outlook of life and a consistently cheerful heart and face. The words you speak and the face you wear have a color... Let God paint it joyful.
3. Let God make you thankful. A grateful spirit receives what God brings into your life and gives thanks to Him for His ability to accept it.
4. Determine to refuse to take offense... There will be times when others do things that are unfair, unkind, or thoughtless. But when you have made the DECISION not to be offended your response to situations will be AUTOMATIC, even when you would naturally be hurt, angry or resentful.
5. Accept everyone for who they are and what they do. Our assignment is to love and accept not to analyze and reject. God is at work behind the scenes in ways we do not see. Trust Him to do what only He can do and love the person just as she/he is.
6. Have a heart for God's people. Make yourself available to them in praying, giving, being hospitable and LISTENING.
7. Read the book of Proverbs often. It gives wisdom for daily life and helps us understand what brings BLESSING instead of CHAOS.
